Hello members and visitors,
Here is the Moderated VIP geek/chat transcripts for the session which was held on Saturday, 5/20/00 at 6:30 PM (Pacific Standard Time, California, USA) Our VIP was Chet Brzezinski, General Manager/President of Website Sponsors at http://www.websitesponsors.com ---> Begin Steve_S Hello GeekVillage members, hosts, guests, and dignitaries http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif Thanks for attending and your valuable support. Please DO NOT close the chat popup window unless you wish to log off. A transcript of this entire session will be posted on our geek/talk Bulletin Board and site. ~ Steve_S/Admin/Owner/Webmaster/Moderator/Janitor/Tribal Chief http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif Steve_S OK lets get started. I'm going to switch the room to Moderator mode. This means that when you send questions or comments at the appropriate time, they will only be seen by the Moderators and VIP. We will follow this procedure: Steve_S Moderator Steve_S: Asks Chet a question VIP/Chet answers this question Moderator asks Members, any questions on this? Moderator posts member question to room VIP/Chet answers member questions Note: Please insure that your question pertains to the current topic. After all appropriate member questions are answered, we move on to the next question for Chet and follow this same procedure. One moment please while I turn on Moderator mode. Steve_S Moderator: Tonights VIP is Chet Brzezinski, General Manager/President of Website Sponsors at http://www.websitesponsors.com Chet is also a very active member of our geek/talk Bulletin Board Community at http://www.geekvillage.com/ubb/Ultimate.cgi Website Sponsors is a pay per click network for Webmasters and site owners. Welcome Chet http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif Steve_S (1) Moderator: Chet, could you please give us a summary of what your company is about? VIP-Chet-Website Sponsors We do exactly what our name says - we supply sponsors for websites over 560 + strong now. We recurit advertisers and supply them to websites that meet our standards. It's easier for one network to handle all the grunt work then it would be for all of our 560 + hosts to try to get the advertisers on their own. Steve_S Members, any questions on this? Steve_S Member Matt question: what are your website standards? is answered in a few moments under another section Steve_S Member starluck question: how long has website sponsors been aroun VIP-Chet-Website Sponsors 8 months Steve_S Members, any questions on this? Steve_S (2) Moderator: Chet, What type of sites are you looking to work with? VIP-Chet-Website Sponsors We like to recruit unique domain name websites (as opposed to sites that run on AngelFire.com, Xoom.com, Tripod.com, Etc...) that you can tell have invested some time in them and are very well designed. We require our hosts pages to be in English only, no questionable content (Adult, Warez, Crackz, Etc...). We welcome websites of all variety as long as they are able to comply with our terms and conditions. Steve_S Members, any questions on this? Steve_S Member Matt C asks: what do you do at WSS? VIP-Chet-Website Sponsors I am the owner so pretty much everything... Steve_S Members, any questions on this? Steve_S (3) Moderator: Chet, what type of sites make the most $ with your program? VIP-Chet-Website Sponsors The kind that seem to earn the most $$$ are the Entertainment sites. Sites that are related to celebrities seem to be doing the best right now. Also the ones that do good are ones that are related to some kind of internet service such as website hosting companies. Steve_S Members, any questions on this? Steve_S (4) Moderator: Chet, How much do your top earners make per month? VIP-Chet-Website Sponsors I have one host in my network that is earning nearly $4,000 per month. Steve_S Member startluck asks: how do you determine which ads are shown on which site? VIP-Chet-Website Sponsors It is in our programming, advertisers pick the categories they want, hosts pick theirs, and then the programming matches it up... Steve_S Member Meoowser asks: Is the pay per click the same for all size banners or does it depend on who the advertiser is? VIP-Chet-Website Sponsors All pay per click prices are the same Steve_S Member starluck asks: and if i were an advertiser how would i know that my ads on a site weren't being repeatedly clicked on by the same person VIP-Chet-Website Sponsors Only one click counts per 24 hours per ip address Steve_S Member MagicMan asks: Are their specific Demographics that pay more than another? VIP-Chet-Website Sponsors No, all demographics pay the same Steve_S Member starluck asks: how many advertisers do you have currently? VIP-Chet-Website Sponsors Currently 5 Steve_S Member Meowser asks: Can the code you provide be used in webadverts for rotation purposes? VIP-Chet-Website Sponsors Yes, alot of hosts are using WebAdverts Steve_S Member Matt question: any big names VIP-Chet-Website Sponsors ShopNow.com, FashionMall.com, CatalogSavings.com, FingerHut.com Steve_S Members, any questions on this? Steve_S (5) Moderator: Chet, what common trait or traits do these top earners have in common? VIP-Chet-Website Sponsors They are very well designed and offer some type of service (website hosting, free email, redirection, etc...) Steve_S Members, any questions on this? Steve_S (6) Moderator: Chet, What is your current pay for click rate? VIP-Chet-Website Sponsors We pay between 17 and 20 cents per click to our hosts, the rate varies on how many clicks the site brings in every month. But 17 cents is the bare minimum - every click is worth at least that much every day to all our hosts. Steve_S Members, any questions on this? Steve_S Member geekbooks question: What is the current average clickthru rate for the network? VIP-Chet-Website Sponsors 0.78% Steve_S Member geekbooks question: Is it possible for Web sites to specify what kind of banners run on their sites? Or to decline certain banners? VIP-Chet-Website Sponsors That is something that we don't have right now but is currently being worked on...I am not sure how long it will be though till this is brought in Steve_S Member Matt C question: Do you plan to use CPM banners as well as CPC in the future? VIP-Chet-Website Sponsors We used to use a cpm program but did away with it...for the future we ae looking into bringing it back again Steve_S Members, any questions on this? Steve_S Member starluck question: what about exclusivity, would sites have to drop other ads? VIP-Chet-Website Sponsors No, we do not ask for exclusitivity ... Steve_S Member geekbooks question: When I went to the Website Sponsors site, I had a difficult time finding out who advertised ... I'd like to see who is in the network before I sign up one of my sites to run banners. (I'm not keen on "Punch the Monkey" and ads of that ilk) http://geekvillage.com/ubb/wink.gif VIP-Chet-Website Sponsors That is something that we can work on doing soon...creating a client list and then linking to it so potential hosts could see who are advertising in the network...good point Steve_S Member Matt C question: I noticed allclicks runs your banners on their MSG board, do you have a special deal with them? VIP-Chet-Website Sponsors No, just an even banner swap...their banners are on my forum in exchange Steve_S (7) Moderator: Chet, any tricks of the trade to maximize revenue using your program? Banner placement etc. VIP-Chet-Website Sponsors Don't overload pages with banners. One at the top and one at the bottom should be fine and looks the best. No one likes to see a ton of commercials when watching TV shows so no one wants to see alot while surfing the internet either. Steve_S Members, any questions on this? Steve_S Member Matt C question: Have you seen anyone use a "water image" on a webpage with a banner? Like what geocities used to do with their "G", it always was on the screen when you scrolled? VIP-Chet-Website Sponsors No, we don't serve water images Steve_S Member starluck question: what percentage of your ads are house banners? VIP-Chet-Website Sponsors Most of our house banners are the odd sized ones since that part of the program is only a week old...very few are for the standard banners and hosts still get paid the same as they were regular advertiser banners... Steve_S Member Matt C question: could someone use your banners with their own water mark code? VIP-Chet-Website Sponsors No, sorry Steve_S Members, any questions on this? Steve_S Member starluck question: many banner ad networks have terrible feed, especially at prime time, is that much of a problem with websitesponsors? VIP-Chet-Website Sponsors With our new server upgrade (Last Night) I really don't see this happening anytime soon... Steve_S (8) Moderator: Chet, One final question. Why should people join your program? VIP-Chet-Website Sponsors Three big reasons: 1. Our payout scale is among the best on the net. 2. The payout payout scale is very easy to achieve the next level. For example, if you get 1,000 clicks in June then you will be paid 18 cpc for June. 3. Our unique referral program. All hosts start out at 01 cents per referral click, as you recruit more hosts into our network then your referral payout will rise. For example, once you get 20 referrals your payout will be raised to 02 cpc, when you get 30 referrals it will be raised to 03 cpc, this will happen till you get up to 50 referrals and 05 cents per referral click. We have hosts that are earning $200 - $500 per month on just referrals alone. A website that started out as a hobby for someone could very easily become a good source of extra income for them. Steve_S Members, any questions on this? Steve_S (9) Moderator: Thanks for attending Chet http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif Members and fellow geeks: This concludes our Moderated VIP geek/chat.
