Thumbs up Value-Ad Banner Test -- Special Olympics Duck Race (NON-PROFIT)

Dear Webmaster,

We are currently running a test banner for the Special Olympics, a nonprofit organization which is raising donations for their mission. This banner is promoting a duck fundraising event in which participants can donate $5 or more for each duck that is entered into a race for a chance to win a $1,000,000, a Honda Insight automobile and other great prizes.
If you would like to participate using your unsold inventory please visit the following link to get creatives:
http://www.kintera.org/creatives/sony/

These events are taking place all over the country and if proven successful we would look to move to a % of inventory donated and % of inventory paid model.

Thank you for you participation in this great cause. We will keep you posted.

Could you explain that a little more. The more inventory I donate, the more paid inventory I get? Or do you start paying me for the donated inventory?

Guava's got a point there. "What's in it for me? What benefit do I get from showing banners for non-profits?"

QUACK QUACK http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif Nice ducks!

Subject to ValueAds correction or confirmation the post says "test" and "...if proven successful we would look to move..." means you get a warm and fuzy feeling for helping a great cause but no money and or no "credits" and or no recip links and or no compensation what so ever. See your tax person and or attorney for tax implications and the final word on how it impacts you.

If it works and if they move to the next step you might get something besides helping a really great cause. Your prior relationship would not play a factor in any form of "paid" relationship.

Vlad...can you conform, modify, or correct?

Steve_S thank you for clearing this out.
You are absolutely correct.
Kintera is marketing infrastructure for non-profits. If banner advertising works then Kintera clients will pay % of whatever somebody donate though your site.
Just as an example Kintera and ValueAd raised about 20 000 dollars for last 2 weeks online. Actual event is next week.
Here is how it works. Basically you place banner on your site. And if one of your visitors or you would like to donate (minimum $5) you will receive a Duck. Then next week there will be a duck race on the river. If your duck arrived first to the finish point you got a million bucks for your self.
Nice gambling :-) You donate $5 and you play 1 000 000 Fun and good cause together.

Geeks, if you have any questions please ask right away.

Thanks.

Based on this info, I just thought of something interesting. I'm not sure of the legal aspects of it as far as taxes and all of that go.

What if you created a site that is intended to do exactly what ValueAd wants to do, get donations for non-profits, and take a 20% cut off the top of all donations, and send the 80% to the charity. This would HAVE to be stated on the website. That way the site could payout a percentage like a pay-per-sale program and turn a profit as well? I guess if it was a non-profit itself then the people would still get their tax deduction, but wouldn't if it was a for-profit business.

That idea just occurred to me. Not something I'm interested in but it would generate increased donations for the non-profits.

Guava you are very bright person!
Thatís exactly what Kintera.com does.
At this moment Kintera test banner advertising as a tool to raise donations.
From http://www.kintera.org/creatives/sony/ campaign Kintera doesn't make any money so as ValueAd.com
Itís just a test. So far we have 27 donations.
All of them 5 bucks and only one of them $150
Now imagine webmasters make 20% of it.
