I keep seeing a difference in the daily page view numbers from my server stats vs. my Burst Media stats. The Burst figure (indicating the number of above-the-fold 468x60 banner impressions) is *higher* than what my server logs say the page-view count was. Sometimes over ten percent more.
My *guess* is that, somewhere between the server and some of the visitors, my HTML pages are being cached (by ISPs?), and then pulled from those caches (and *not* from my server space), but since the Burst banners are in an <IFRAME>, with the cache-busting mechanism, they still get loaded from the Burst server. Thus, the illusion of more banner impressions than page views. Does this explaination sound correct? Does anybody else have this issue? Since I have the Burst code with the <IFRAME>, etc, cache-busting actually on the site, with defaults going to FastClick, I am hoping that the FastClick banners should also be loading OK, even when my HTML page is coming out of a cache? ------------------ Web Sponsor Zone - Internet Advertising Directory http://www.websponsorzone.com Earn Money With Your Site |

Sounds like a fair explanation to me. The best thing about this is that you're earning money on some impressions where you effectively deliver no bandwidth. Nothing beats that value relationship.

It has to do with the "back" button. When someone hits it they pull the page from their cache but the ad from Burst.

Same thing happens to me. OVER ten percent higher according to BURST. Does that mean my "page views" are technically to be considered as higher, in actuality, than what is reported in my host logs?
