WordPress is open source CMS which is very easy to use for website development. But if you want to create website using dot net and java then you must be technically qualified and should have a Good knowledge of these programming languages.
On the other hand WordPress is very much easy to use, any beginner having basic knowledge of compute and website development can easily create website using WordPress. WordPress is having lots of predefined module using that website can be easily developed.

Wordpress is widely used because it is user friendly. For an average computer user, it's easy to navigate through pages. When I was just starting about 8 years ago, I easily got used to wordpress as compared with joomla. Wordpress' interface is just easy to understand. Plus, Google seems to love wordpress, so it's perfect for blogging.
