I would love it if my message board were as heavily hit as this one. I suppose it is all in the traffic to your site.
I even offered for people to list their favorite affiliate program (an open invitation for FREE exposure) and no one bit. Anyone have any ideas? ------------------ Oops! All the Things That Affiliates Do Wrong... http://www.AffiliateBlunders.com |

Have alot of traffic to your main site.
If you have page about Games which gets 60,000 impressions daily, your bound to get alot of posts on the message boards. ------------------ -Bryan |

yes main site traffic is key to getting visitors and potential members...
my new anime forum opened 6 days ago and get's 750+ visitors/day and over 410+ posts/day and i am directing alot of traffic to it from all of my anime sites and my old message board. maybe you need to exchange links with same topic sites and offer your forums for their visitor base ? ------------------ Evangelion in the 21st century Eva2000.com Australian Star Wars Prequels ThePrequels.net Anime2001 Network Anime2001.com Coming soon... Hi all,
As far as I remember, steve struck a deal (like banner ads sharing) with Ryan Adams of Clickquick to add Money making forum as one of the category in clickquick. All other forums were slowly developed based on the needs of the webmasters hanging out in the Money Making forums. I think Wild Computer lead the effort in opening up the webmasters forum. I keep trying to finish "The geek/talk story" to help folks but I'm still not done. Sorry. A very brief history of how we were born and the talented folks who made and make it all possible. This includes YOU dear members and visitors and that's MOST important to me. Let me please state this in a manner that helps affiliateblunderds so we stay on topic. Lavee has some of the issues in place but a more detailed answer may help. You may have to indulge me http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif
I couldn't find a *** QUALITY *** Webmaster centric Board in July of 1998 so I started my own around that time on my site (very-cool-stuff.com) with NO trafic to speak of and a hodge podge of "stuff". Many people told me I was nuts. I ignored them all because I had this burning passion to help folks and thought it would be fun. I hope these are your reasons as well. This is a trait that I see in other successfull Webmaster centric boards. The BB opened with 3 Forums. Webmaster Issues, Making Money, and Help, This Forum started as a result of my trial ballon. I offered private site design reviews for free. After I recieved 150 requests the first week I knew their was a demand but I just couldn't keep up on a private email basis. I also opened Making Money because I knew it was a great topic and lots of folks needed help. I ran the BB alone and I do mean alone as in very very few posts for a short time before I offered to partner with Ryan Adams. You will need to "partner" with other folks to run a successfull Webmaster centric BB. "Fun" boards with a different focus are an entirely different strategy. This BB is not "part of" ClickQuick. I own the entire site and BB. So how do you partner? Look for folks in the early stages of their Web development. Don't obsess over trafic and revenue. That stuff will come naturally IF you offer real content AND surround yourself with great Moderators who set a professional tone. In Ryans case, he had very little trafic BUT I immediately saw content, knowledge, passion, integrity, and high minded thought. He also had a BB via a Free service that had a few good posts but was also full of spam and other abuses. These "character" qualities are exactly what I look for and these traits are ALL shared by our fantastic team. In order of appearance they are: Ryan Adams, Q (Questy retired after one year) WildComputer, Arn, Aaron, and Ted S. Each and every one of them are outstanding examples of great geeks to partner with. Some additional tips on finding partners. In Ryans case I just sent him an email and told him how much I liked his site and why. No sales pitch or obsession over trading links. When was the last time you did this http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif This led to a friendship which then led to a partner. You need to network and thus hang out on this BB as well as other quality booards like virtualpromote.com. Get involved http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif Study how they do things and how we do things. Bond. Create a short and descriptive signature. Help other folks. Set your standards of excellence and stick to them. HTH and best of luck with your BB. ------------------ Best Regards, Steve_S Your Administrator [*] Free Redirection Service [*] Screen Savers/Wallpaper [*] Multi-Media Postcards & Community [*] Find what you want [This message has been edited by Steve_S (edited 07-01-2000).] |
