Question Haignet Media Network?

Hi,

I've received an offer from Haignet Media Network to "Join their network" (the email subject is "interested in buying your site").....

My question, has anybody heard from them?

This is their Web site: http://www.haignet.com

They have some things like:

Non-financial consideration:
  • We work with you to achieve the financial and traffic goals of your site.
  • Together we will trancend the current state of the internet market.
  • We promote your site across our high traffic network.
  • We handle any legal issues
  • We provide whatever resources are necessary
  • We handle all business issues (including expense and revenues)
  • You maintain editorial and content control of your website.
  • We pay for hosting, and other costs

edit:
Oh, of course nothing about a price! (quote from email: We can talk about financial considerations when we have more information.

Did you ever pursue this at all? I just got a similar message. Their site claims there are 20 sites in the network but doesn't list them and I certainly can't find much about them on the web.

Well, I can't really remember... since it's been around a year ago....

I discussed it with my CEO on ICQ, and I don't remember if he called or emailed them...

Anyway, nothing materialized....

Sounds like a ripoff of eFront, which REALLY didn't turn out well..

I got this email too:

Dear ****,
I am Joe Hirsch with the Haignet Media Network. We are a network of the web's most popular sites and services under the Haignet umbrella. We add sites such as yours to the network and pay the webmasters/owners monthly payments for displaying Haignet ads. Lately, we have been looking
for a site that has music searching capabilities. We view your site as the leader in this area, and would like to extend this offer to you to join our network.

Before we talk here are some considerations:

* We promote your site across our high traffic network.
* We handle any legal issues
* We provide whatever resources are necessary
* We handle all business issues (including expense and revenues)
* You maintain editorial and content control of your website.
* We pay for hosting, and other costs
* You receive up to an unlimited amount monthly

If you are interested in joining the Haignet Media Network call us at ********** or just respond to one of the following:

I don't know the Company or anything about them from third parties. They could be just great. The following bit of research took me about 10 minues and so far I have more questions than answers:

Alexa: http://info.alexa.com/data/details?u...ww.haignet.com

Ranked: Average traffic ranking: 420,146
Links pointing in: 20

Founded in 1998?

Arie data: http://info.alexa.com/data/details?u...finisource.com

Average traffic ranking: 25,028
Links pointing in: 2,010
Online since: 11-Mar-1998

Broken management link on site

The site appears to be an "include" of ODP. Those links ARE NOT the sites. They are ODP. Go here to do it yourself:

Next we go to Google with:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...=Google+Search

54 links from a site thats been around since 1998

A few more snippets of data care of the magic of Google...

As Steve noted, the main site's directory is simply an ODP feed. Added to this, their shopping channels are nothing but affiliate links, and their free email is powered by EveryOne.net (which, while it may suit many, is arguably not the best sign of a major media network whose "Management" page (now available only through Google cache) is loaded with names of Directors and Board Members - and claims of stable profitability.)

One of Haignet's former vertical networks:
http://www.geocities.com/extremescott/about.html
One of the sites they seem to have purchased in 2000:
http://www.christonline.cjb.net/
One of their present web properties - featuring freeware content and ValueClick ad support (others noted above had broken banners from AffiliateTarget, so its unlikely that Haignet have excess banner inventory):
http://www.theebest.com/

No sign of any significant properties owned or controlled by the company as yet, which may be seen as surprising given that they've been soliciting sites for several months (ie note the start date of this thread).

i`ve got the same email too. Though i asked a few questions and got some answers already:

Some quotes:

"We have been in business since late 1999. Our true business model was not affective till late 2000 though."

"Before we can accurately evaluate what kind of cpm we can give you we need to know your sites current statistics, these include but are not limited to monthly pageviews, impressions, uniques, bandwidth usage etc."

a few of their sites: cashglow.com, 123cheats.net, xtreme-
cheats.com, gaming-xtreme.com, wrestlewire.com.

in other words they want to "buy" my site. What will it include?

1. i`ll move it to their sever (rackshack.com) and give them the total control over my site and the whole. though they said that i`ll have "editorial control". heh

2. i`ll have to put their logo on every of my pages. that means i`ll promote their network for free.

3. they will have an exclusive rights on the ads on "my" site

4. what will i get in exchange? the possibility to show valueclick`s banners (just found that every site in their "network" have VC banners).

smart guys, dont they

i`ll let you know about the following answers from them.

I replied but never heard anything back from them. Perhaps its because I pointed out that their site was simply an ODP based directory or perhaps because I said I was only willing to enter into a partnership if I retained full ownership of my site. You're right they did bring to mind eFront and that whole fiasco.

My website received a similar offer a few months back -- an offer to purchase the site. We requested a numerical buyout offer, and it was far too low for us to even consider it. -Nick
