Unhappy GOOD URL redirection script?

Any recommendations *from your experience* on a really good (= fast and reliable) URL redirection script that can be used to give users a new URL like revisit.com/user as opposed to their current long domain name?

KEY:-
* Very fast (I expect a lot of users will sign up)
* Highly reliable
* Relatively easy to install
* Customizable (i.e. template-based for the admin screens, etc.)

NOT IMPORTANT:-
* Cost
* Language (Perl, PHP or anything else that runs on Linux is great)

Thanks,

Edwin

Thanks for the help. The script from SolutionScripts looks really good, and easy to both set up and customize!

I guess that it should theoretically be possible to migrate to a more powerful solution later, should that prove necessary...

Watch for the opening of the Revisit.com URL redirection service, coming soon http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif

That reminds me... what do you think of the domain name "revisit.com" for a URL redirection service? Great? Good? So-so? Bad? Terrible?

And why?

Thumbs up

I think I need a vacation http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif I had to go look at the code to see what I'm running on this site. I actually forgot. Turns out it's a commercial script. We tried a custom thing and it was junk.

Get the Admin as well and please tell Matthew I sent you http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif
http://www.myvsr.com/

Somewhat complex to set up. Requires Domain wildcards enabled and directed to index.shtml which calls the script via SSI. Dandy little Perl script.

See it in action at:

I suggest a pop up for your adverts. It's "cleaner" amd perhaps most importantly can not be defeated http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif

Can't comment on how it works under real "load" with a high volume operation. In my view a "virtual connical" in front of a domain name that does not scream "I cant afford a real domain" and one that has some personality is the way to go. I could be wrong on this but Iv'e surveyed a few of my members.

If you decide to go this route make sure you "reserve" certain names that you want to prevent others from taking like "webmaster.foo.com and set up your friends with accounts so someone doesn't grab their idenity via WildComputers name as in:
