Unhappy ValueClick offers CPM Campaigns!

Hey All,

Got this email from them!

--------------------------
Dear Kaumil,

Last week we wrote to tell you about a great new money-making opportunity
available to you as a member of the ValueClick network - CPL pop-ups! The
response has been very positive, and many publishers are already enjoying
increased commissions as a result of implementing that product. In the
letter introducing that product, we hinted that there would be even more
great news coming soon, and here it is...

ValueClick is now offering CPM campaigns!

That's right - for the first time in our history, ValueClick is offering
advertisers the options of CPM-based banners, buttons and pop-ups for
their online marketing campaigns. This new development promises great
benefits to you:

*More Revenue Opportunities: This latest addition completes the full set
of online ad-pricing methods that ValueClick offers to website publishers
and advertisers. Whether it's a CPM, CPC, CPL, CPE or CPA campaign that
best fits advertiser objectives, they can come to ValueClick and our
strong network of publishers like you to get it done.

*Multiple Format Applications: The CPM product is very flexible - it can
be used for banners and our new pop-up product!

*Revenue-Sharing Arrangement: The new ValueClick CPM product works just
like others you may have had in the past. The advertiser pays based on
impressions served, and ValueClick shares a percentage of the revenue with
you, after deducting ad-serving costs.

*Auto-Enrollment: Since we believe that all of our publisher partners will
be interested in the opportunity of making more money, we've gone ahead
and auto-enrolled you in the CPM program. If you're interested in being
eligible for these campaigns, you don't need to do anything - you're
already enrolled. Instead, if for some reason you don't want to have CPM
campaigns on your site, you can opt out by sending an email to
help@valueclick.com with 'CPM opt out' in the subject line.

We are very proud of this new development, and we have already started to
promote it in the marketplace so we can all begin to make more money right
away. Our commitment is to constantly develop new products that are
attractive to advertisers and lucrative to our publisher partners.

We're always interested in your feedback -- if you have any questions or
comments, please don't hesitate to contact us at help@valueclick.com.

Sincerely,

Steven T.A. Carter
Vice President of Network Operations
ValueClick, Inc.

I did get this email from VC (plus a few other VC announcements in the past), though I do not recall ever applying to the network. Perhaps someone at VC can clear this up for me.

I don't think there is any cpm campaigns as of yet but they are planning to put some up, I guess we'll know which campaigns are cpc/cpm.

I don't think being a onresponse affiliate gets you valueclick emails, as I am a onresponse affiliate, and have never gotten any vc emails from them.

I got it today. My only concern would be: does Valueclick pay? I always thought they did, but I'm not so sure.

ValueClick pays like clockwork. They have a darn good reputation for paying on time, every-time. I have never got a late-payment for the months I was with them.

Question

I got the e-mail from VC and I have 2 sites with them (2 separate account). I got an e-mail for each site.

The question now is, what will the CPM rates be? We've all been automatically added to their CPM ad pool, but what if it's something lower than what we average with their CPC ads (not that they make me much).

I've looked around in the VC members area and see nothing about rates. I've e-mailed them and I'm still waiting for a response. Does anyone else know anything?

you get a check on the 25th for clicks thru the 15th.
Effective April 1st, ValueClick moved to a monthly payment system, but yes, they do still issue payments like clockwork.

darnell, no part of ValueClick's site (except the member stats area) seems to have changed to reflect the fact that they will soon support CPM-based transactions, so it's hard to guess what rates they will offer. It is likely, though, that publishers will receive somewhere in the vicinity of $0.20-$0.80 net CPM. This is a similar range to where FocusIN, FastClick and BurstMedia's rates lie.

ValueClick obviously has a bigger name in the online ad biz, but since their CPM product is new, and the company's focus in on performance-based offerings, advertisers will likely be slow to make the leap except to capitalize on high CTR/low rate banners designed to build bulk traffic inexpensively.

I'm still waiting on checks that I was told would be sent June 1. That's why I was wondering if they do pay.

I think the e-mail about the cpm campaigns did indeed go out to onresponse members too.
I only was accepted there and not regular valueclick and I get all of the valueclick e-mails it seems.

What good are cpm
campaigns to somewhat without the membership in valueclick to run them?
