Exclamation Running a banner exchange?

Heya, Im thinking of starting a banner exchange for my site, is it worth my time and money? I would like to offer a 3:2 ratio, with both 88x31 and 468x60 banners, and then have 4 categories.

Whats good banner exchange software? Can i get anything good for under $300? What should i know before i start this exchange? tips / tricks / good advice? http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif

Thanks all.

I wouldn't suggest starting one in the current market conditions. There won't be any companies willing to sell advertising on it.

Im not looking to sell advertising on it, i want to get more trafic to my sites http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif Theres thousands of cycling sites out there, but not a single cycling only banner exchange, i want to make a targeted banner exchange for this market, and promote my own sites in the exchange. I may sell advertising on the exchange at a later date, but i have no plans to in the near future.

I recommend http://www.gadnet.com/bplus/ . The full version is only $75.

I also do not recommend starting a banner exchange at the moment. I run a banner exchange and we offer a 3:1 ratio and we pay $.10 CPM. We have experienced minimal success in recruiting new members. We used to be just a pure 1:1 ratio exchange, and we didn't do very well with that either. We still offer the 1:1 account type, but the 3:1/$.10 CPM is our main account type. I believe we offer above industry standard options, but it still is extremely tough to get members or make money. If you'd like to see the site, it is here: http://www.bannersmile.com
