Default How was your Amazon earnings last quarter/year?!

I made $7,501.23 for the quarter, and $16,215.73 for the year. From selling the mod_rewrite hack, in two weeks, it earned $910.00. Now how did you do?! Any one beat me, or am I still the Amazon King??!!

I think my earnings with Amazon last year can best be described as...

PTTHHHHHHHHT!

Nope. With big companies, I would guess I'm in the top 50. Not counting companies, I would guess the top 20.

I made a sale just about every day... or averaged about 1 a day and I pulled $50

I want to x that by 10 by the end of the quarter

I'm usually down on Amazon's program but I decided to run a test in quarter 4 to check Amazon's profitability. What I did was bought ads targetted to about 15 Amazon products on Google Adwords. Some video games, some dvds, some books, some music. I just wanted a general selection to see how they did. The ads linked straight to Amazon's item page for each item being targetted. I paid $.05-$.06 for each click. Anyway, here were the results:

Earnings from Amazon: $183.55
Price I paid for the advertising: $181.60
Total Profit: $1.95
Profit Margin: 1.06%

I don't mind the fact that this was a disappointing experiment because it only took about 2-3 hours of my time and I did the test to see if buying massive amounts of ads targetted to Amazon products could be a decent moneymaker. I would have to conclude it is not worth the time as there are many other programs out there where buying ads will make a much higher profit margin. Also, the fact that Amazon only pays every 3 months could be a problem for some.

If I were to do the test again, I would exclude all music and video games. Judging by the products sold, it appears that the music and video games lost money while the books and dvds made a small profit. It might be possible to make a 10-20% profit margin on books and dvds by buying ads and sending to Amazon.

Anyway, don't expect me to jump on the Amazon bandwagon any time soon

I once tried PPC at a penny a click, and I didn't even make my money back!!! I tried a Harry Potter book, the DVDs section, and Amazon's home page. I think items that earn you $10.00 would be much easior to make money from than cheaper items.

I'm of the opinion that if I cannot make money (or make very little money) off a company's affiliate program by advertising in the search engines, I don't promote them further with 'free' advertising (like building sites to promote them or promoting on sites I own). Every affiliate program I am considering always goes through what I call the 'Adwords Test'. I buy up ads on Google related to the company's terms and see how much money I make. If it performs well, then I deem it a good program and put it on a list to promote further sometime in the future.

I definitely admire your commitment to affiliate marketing and all the work you have done with Amazon. You've made great progress since I turned you on to affiliate marketing You've become very good at promoting and are the undisputed 'Amazon King'. However, I know you will find programs out there which will make you more than you could imagine if you put the same effort into them as you put into Amazon

Nintendo

Does your product sales from amazon distribute
evenly across any type of product because you use "mod_rewrite" ?

What is your amazon epc?
and earning per unique visitor to amazon ?

Last quarter I got 413,076 clicks! So that's less than two cents per click!! Of course store sites make much more per click than content sites.

I don't know what category makes the most orders per 1,000 clicks. I get orders for everything.

I made around $1150 on 942 items shipped - no PPC traffic. I really wish they would have had the new customer bonus as they had in past years.
