They can Paypal the money to you. Paypal is available to residents of Costa Rica.

ok, that sounds a bit odd..im sure that a cheque would be fine, it would just mean that your fees are higher, as the cheque will have to travel back and forth a fair bit..

If they have a check book there should be no problem, your own bank will simply mail the check back to costa rica, might add a $10 fee on though or something similar.

Interesting.............they may be in Costa Rica because it's a tax haven of sorts. Think Robert Vesco for other interesting folks who hang out their.

Ask them the name of the bank. Then check here:

and

I presume and hope your specified US Dollars at your end.

PayPal sounds like a great idea. If they balk, wish them luck and send them on their way

There really shouldn't be any problems with a wire transfer. If you do not already have the necessary information, you may wish to contact your bank, and ask them for wire transfer 'payment instructions'. The instructions are standardized (identical around the world), and should include the following information:

32A: value date, currency, amount USD
57A: beneficiary's bank Your Big Bank USA - SWIFT code (not ABA routing #)
59: Beneficiary Your name and account
54A: correspondent bank Intermediary bank (in case your bank does not have relationship with senders bank).

I strongly advise that you ALSO include the following line on the payment instructions:

71A: Details Charges OUR

This means that all sending charges are to be paid by the sender, and not deducted from the amount you will receive.
