I got that email too. I got it on an email address which I only use on affiliate networks or other advertisment related activities. I believe some network sold out email addresses. If I remember correctly I'm on the following networks

1. ClickXchange
2. CJ
3. Fineclicks
4. LeadCrunch

(I think I'm forgetting some place)

I don't use that email address anywhere else not even on this board.

That is interesting LAH.

For a while I was getting a lot of gambling emails *somehow* through cj (they were mentioning cj.com in their optin list), I had a heap of them over a fortnight maybe, but when I reported it they suddenly stopped.

I have no further details about that now as they are deleted.

But this spam doesn't follow the format that the gambling places used.

Hmmm I just got that offer as well, and it's sent to the email address I use only on GV and Fineclicks. Either the advertiser got my email here, or directly from my site.

[msg editted, as I just realized the email is also used for my Fineclicks account]

Thumbs down Me 2.

Very interesting so many of us have gotten it.
Something related to either: GV, or another aff'network we're involved in, as LAH pointed out.

Pretty sad, one of these could actually sell the addresses, or not want to point the email is regarding their new sister network ; )

Maybe the owner of this forum sold our email addresses?

Seems very logical thing to do for me.

Absolutely not FC. This forum is vehemently opposed to spam marketing in all its forms, and does not resell email addresses to any third parties.

My feeling at this stage is that this individual has scalped publicly -available email addresses from sites either manually (which may explain those cases in which GV members received them to emails only used here) and/or via the employment of email harvesting robots.

FWIW, I've received 5 copies of this email thus far - all to different email addresses. All of these email addresses are available on the sites in question, and are different from my Whois details. One of the five is also available on this forum.

Jan, this one is allowed to go to SpamCop.

(BTW, those members who are concerned about unethical trolls may opt to hide their email addresses on this forum by visiting their control panel.)
