Default Click fraud is less than expected

It was F. M. Hubbard who once said
Quote:
Honesty pays, but it doesn't seem to pay enough to suit some people.
That quote explains one of the reasons behind click fraud. Click fraud is a serious problem, but it now turns out that it might not be as serious as was thought.

Google and Yahoo have been saying they are doing a rather good job of keeping it under control. Google has stated many times that click fraud is much less than the relatively high numbers that have been given. They just might be right.

It has often been said that click fraud is over 30 percent. According to click-fraud monitoring firm Click Forensics, the average click fraud is 13.7 percent.

The report also says click fraud is much less on tier one search providers than tier two or tier three search providers. Google and Yahoo would be classified as tier one search providers, and for the tier one it is 12.1 percent. For tier two it is 21.3 percent. Tier three is 29.8 percent. So, according to this Yahoo and Google are doing a much better job with the control of click fraud than some of the others.

According to this study 90 percent of click fraud orginated in the United States and Canada. http://www.informationweek.com/news/...on=All+Stories
