Default Editorial coverage please

We have excellent listings in Google, Yahoo, etc for our virtual tour website -

Explore Kew Gardens - online virtual tour (free)

We have also done two press releases through PRweb.com last year, which did not generate much traffic, but which DID improve our ranking in Google. (yes!)

What we need now is to get newspapers, magazines and websites to write about our virtual tour, and provide a link to it.

We tried sending out about 180 targetted emails to NO effect. Waste of time. We tried posting info about our website in Garden-type forums, some minor increases in traffic.

Aside from the old-fashioned way of actually looking up phone numbers and calling newspaper editors, etc, is there any other way of getting good promotion for our AWARD-WINNING virtual tour site?

We'd be willing to pay someone to get editorial coverage of the site.

Any recommendations?

Default Nobody can do it better than you.

PR is easy to get in person. Walk in and ask for it.

If that is not possible, try sending a few press releases a week to target media and follow up with a call later in the week.

Ten releases mailed a week with a follow up call and persistence in reaching the right person will get decent results within a couple of months max.

One article is something you can be proud of but unless it's the WSJ, it's not going to help much. But, a consistent and persistent pr campaign can build a customer base as well, or better, than advertising campaigns that cost 100 times as much.

PR is mostly hard labor and sweat. It is not easy. But it is inexpensive and effective. If you are under financed, a good pr campaign can be the ticket your looking for.

Thanks. It's not really possible to walk into London newspapers' offices (not counting "community" papers which would provide no real value for effort).

I have thought for a long time that sending postal mail PR to the right reporters/editors would be the best approach.

However, to date I have contacted perhaps 20 reporters by phone, and had nice chats, with them "receptive" and with many follow-ups, but to no avail in the end, sigh.
