Default ValueClick Media's new 'Video for Publishers' solution

A few new players are cropping up to help content producers and aggregators make the most of the rise in popularity of online streaming video. Fortunately, some of the more established networks are also starting to put their respective feet forward also. One of those is ValueClick Media.

ValueClick's Video for Publishers appears to offer a similar ad management interface to its other network offerings, while promising CPM based ad placement into videos. They support a number of popular video players and offer both pre-roll and post-roll support, as well as flexible resizing capabilities to ensure maximum compatibility.

For more on this, see:

Have any of you used ValueClick for this purpose as yet? If so, what are your initial impressions about their video offering?

I think ValueClickMedia is going on the right track on this. But looking through these ads formats, they will slow down page loading on your pages. But still excited about the impact on video ads.

I was excited at first, but all I got were smiley video ads. I thought the banner ads were annoying...now they have a video with an awful 80's-esque rap. Also VC announced last month that they would sell the ads for $20 CPM. Mine are currently generating $4-$7 CPM. Another problem is they will only allow you to run a default in the post-roll, but it is hard to sell people on the post roll. I don't see why they don't allow pre-roll defaults too. I sold 2 video ads this month, and both were too excited about the post roll. I emailed VC, but no response yet. Hopefully this is just the begining though and they get some of the kinks worked out. But I don't think i'll be waiting for them.

And in response to Trabaho, they do allow you to run 15 or 30 sec spots. these are video ads for video sites, not stand alone videos. My feeling is if someone is going to download or stream a 10 MB video, a 500kb ad won't kill them. Video content is very expensive to host still and not from a bandwidth point of view either. I do a lot of my own video production that I own, and I also pay royalties on videos that I host. There is also the cost of getting a server capable of streaming to hundreds of people at once. I made the mistake a few years ago in adding video content to my site, not understanding the costs. After 2 months I had to remove it has it killed my servers. I had so many complaints from people that I had to add them back at a loss.

Just wondering if anyone is seeing any of these video ads in their VCM's account. When they first launched a saw a handful listed and they suddenly disappeared.

I don't think these are working out as well as what VCM thought they were as I have not seen any listed within my account for a few months now.
