Arrow New video/multimedia forum now open!

Hello all,

As broadband penetration and the popularity of online video and audio delivery platforms continue to advance at astonishing rates, and with the pricey YouTube acquisition still fresh in our minds, it seems timely for Geek/Talk to start exploring the opportunities presented by this convergence of media types.

Geek/Talk members have always operated at the forefront of the online media landscape; many having been pioneers in online display, search and contextual advertising models. Undoubtedly, then, the entrepreneurial lads and lasses who participate here (that means YOU!) have been itching to explore new, the cutting edge online advertising and sponsorship models that surround rich media delivery.

Web 2.0 technologies figure into the mix in the respect that they may be used to deliver rich, dynamic, interactive applications that don't necessarily involve page refreshes or short user sessions, which is on what many existing online ad delivery models depend. New ad models relating to podcasts, video streaming and rich consumer generated multimedia applications go without saying; some are in place already - borrowing from traditional media models (such as prerolling) - while other revenue generation opportunities have yet to be exploited fully (such as revenue sharing or the accurate delivery of localised and contextually relevant video/audio ads).

Please take this opportunity to throw ideas around with our other members. By doing so, our membership will continue to advance its leadership in another new frontier of the digital media landscape.
