Default Advertising a search engine

We would like to advertise a search engine with affiliate program (XML feed with paid links) more agressively. Some say that it would be good to exchange links, others suggest to submit the URL into all possible directories, etc.

My question to you is very direct: - can you tell me WHERE exactly to submit it or where to advertise? You must not forget that we want to target a very narrow group of people; small search engine owners and those who want to install search boxes on their sites.

Please give straight answers if you can.

well, it would be good to :

1) find the sites that you wish to affiliate with, and contact them directly
2) keep posting on webmaster boards. most allow a link to your site in your signature section. FREE advertising
3) pay for ads on webmaster boards such as this one.

theres a few ideas for you (im sure you've already thought of them though..)
