Unhappy the one, the only... 2001

She's almost here... let's get some predictions going, and we can check back on ourselves in a year and laugh. (or cry?)

- San Fran housing prices will take a big dive, as everyone gets laid off and offices close.

- no peace yet in the the Middle East (I know, not a dot-com related prediction, sorry! http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif)

- we'll be in an official recession

- the companies most likely to make it (survive and eventually profit, not have an IPO) will be homegrown, and launched by people who really understand the 'net.

- a much higher % of the Xmas toys sold next year will work with a computer, or have a chip in them.

Ok, that's all I can think of, what about you guys?

Also, can you believe that it was just one year ago that we were all wondering what was going to happen with Y2K? One year!

Unhappy

Hmm..

-Computer-related sales will normalize at last.
-The tech stocks will finally settle down.
-Most of the PTS industry will finally die out (sorry havaloc http://geekvillage.com/ubb/frown.gif)
-I will shock the nation by winning the lottery, starring in the world's highest-grossing movie to date, and being given Bill Gates's entire fortune by surprise after he converts to Islam and decides that money is taking over the world and it would be greedy of him to keep it all to himself.
-George W. Bush will mangle an important Palestinian's name, causing an even wider rift between the PLO and the US, as Yasser Arafat is quite sensitive about his unusual name and bursts into tears.
-The press will finish retabulating the votes in FL and discover that Al Gore actually *did* win the electoral vote. Add that to his 500,000+ popular vote victory and the economic recession, and we'll all be really depressed.

Here's to 2001!
