While you're at, I am looking for a free car...Preferably a fast sports car...Could someone please tell me where I could get one? (hint: This line of thought is VERY unrealistic. You cant expect to get high quality merchandise for absolutely free)

I don't know that you'll get a free site that's got SPEED AND no pop ups or ads.
It's one or the other it seems. http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif

People used to say F2S was pretty fast; but I think they may be a bit slow now. (They also are not accepting new accounts; although I have a few there I no longer need)

Otherwise I suggest worldzone.net ... an ad at the bottom of every page... but very good on the speed side of things http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif
and spaceports.com - banner on every page wherever you like; and ye get paid for the clicks.

Ok, before I even get into this reply, let's go over the basics of business.

Business provides service, clients provide money, money feeds business.

Now let's look at free hosting services. Business provide service, clients recieve free service but with ads, ads feed business.

Take out the ads and what do you have? Business provides service, client recieves service free, business recieves no money.

Business making very little or no money do one of several things, they either figure out how to make money (banner ads, paid services, ect...), they cut back on features to stay equal or they die.

In the case of your problem, you seem to want a service that make no money but is doing great. Even if you find such a service (something which is nearly impossible), it will get worse and worse as time goes on.

Without revenue, companies cna't afford to buy new services, install fatser bandwidth pipes or upgrade at all.

The chance of finding a generic free service with no ads and great speed is about the same as actually winning something at iWon.com. Sure, a few people win but most don't get close to winning an just waste their time.

If you want some deceent services and can't stand banners, get out yoru credit card, if ads aren't that bad, try one of the few thousand free hosts out there that do have deceent speed.

Just remember, you get what you pay for.

We all knew crosswinds would get banners, I get tired of people promoting free servers with no banners, people must open thier minds and think, where does thier funding come from, what happens when this funding runs out? (either the go belly up and your site is gone, or they ad banners)

If you are willing to accept banner advertising, the best that I have come across is http://www.spaceports.com .
At Spaceports you are alotted 20 megs to start, if you want more just ask, 40gigs transfer/mo. additional cgi-bin with 10 megs yours for the asking.

drawbacks:
They just did an upgrade to the cgi servers this on occasion throws up 500 errors with no good cause.

you may not link to images from an outside source.

you may not link to the cgi server from an outside source.

banners on page or pop-ups if you have not placed the banner code, however you recieve 10 cents per click on them!

I would suggest reading thier T.O.S. and F.A.Q. to see if they would be good for you.

Not sure about the speed - but veoweb.com has free space - and allow you to move the banner to the bottom of your pages.
