Thumbs up ValueClick to acquire Mediaplex

Just days after Mediaplex announced that it would be taking the US arm of ad technology and sales firm Internetad off the European-based company's hands, ValueClick has offered to acquire Mediaplex in full.

The deal is, of course, subject to shareholder approval, but is expected to go ahead in a transaction valued at $44 million. Mediaplex will become a wholly-owned unit of ValueClick.

This will give ValueClick control of a greater proportion of the domestic market share, as well as providing the company with an element that was missing from its product offerings - that being a truly robust, scalable ad serving and tracking solution.

For more information:

With a stronger technology arm, a wider product range (we're already aware of the company's growing support for CPM and CPA-based marketing models), and plenty of cash in the coffers, ValueClick is shaping up to be a serious contender in the market. Though DoubleClick and the major media companies remain clear leaders, it seems that ValueClick could very well challenge Engage, L90 and *ahem* 24/7 Media for second place in the ad rep race.

Any thoughts?

I know you are a moderator but isn't this promotion of your own site?

I thought we ALL had to stick to the rules? http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif
