Default ClickQuick Content Pirated

Hi all,

I returned from a rather nice vacation to find out that large parts of ClickQuick have been pirated by another site. The site in question stole, word for word, font tag for font tag, reviews from my site. Also stolen was an article, the general design and layout, topic categories, the webmaster resources section, meta tags, titles, and more. Very frustrating!

So, I have spent the greater part of tonight fighting to get this stuff removed, rather than working on the site update I had planned. The good news is, I have seem to have caught him still in the building stage. Who knows how far it would have eventually gone.

Anyway, here is the offending site: http://www.channelok.com/earncash/ . Note the similarity to: http://www.clickquick.com .

Also try this: http://www.channelok.com/earncash/top/tekhnosurf.html and note how it is an exact copy of my review at: http://www.clickquick.com/topops/teknosurf.htm .

I think you get the idea. The guy will probably be happy to being getting all the traffic from these links tonight. That is, until he gets my sternly worded email!

Other than that, I have basically followed the methods outlined here: http://www.bruceclay.com/webthief.htm .
Tonight, I have contacted his host, my host, and the affiliate programs he was promoting with my reviews. I have had several friends document the theft, including Steve (thanks!), printed out the offending pages and their underlying source code, and saved a copy of his pages to my hard drive should the need arise.

All in all, I hope we can all learn something from this, and I hope sincerely it never happens to your site. It is very disheartening to see all the hard work you have put into something stolen in a matter of seconds.

Ya, I would say that it is safe to say that that guy took your work. This has happened to me before when I used to be the webmaster for websitelinks.com, it hasn't happened to me yet or at least I haven't found anyone copying websitesponsors.com

Allan Gardyne has had many problems like this too. I guess there are just some people out there that want to take the easy way to try to make money online or something like that.

I emailed the webmaster of that site acting like I stumbled onto his site and told him what he did was wrong. I will also include his site in my newsletter telling my subscribers about him. I think if all your visitors did this, that guys mailbox would be full of negative mail and he will change his site.

By the way, where did you go on vacation at?

I thought I saw a page on the site saying something like "please please click on a banner..etc..". This was on the way to the ValueClick review.

I'm pretty sure I didn't imagine it, but sorry can't find it again...but you might want to look for it...
