Hi all,
I am surprised to see that many of you get very high page views per day. I am just getting 1000 page views a day with my free stuff site Lavee.com Any pointers or success stories would help me in getting more page views. hi... i am think that free stuff kind of sites are alot easier to get traffic compared to more content or specific based sites....
my sites eva2000.com and theprequels.net took 6 - 12 months to get to where it is, 9,000 - 11,500 pv/day and 1,000 - 2,000 pv/day respectively... but i am surprised with my site thedesktopthemes.com which is only 3 and bit months old but is now getting 1,000 visitors/day and 7,000+ pv/day My suggestion for your site (i haven't seen your site lately) is to join a few good top site ranking sites and exchange a few links with related sites... Then submit doorway pages to search engines - altavista, yahoo inktomi, infoseek, google and mamma seem to be the best for me... I haven't bothered with Yahoo directory yet since thedesktopthemes.com has a ****py temp frontpage at the moment ------------------ Evangelion in the 21st century Eva2000.com Australian Star Wars Prequels ThePrequels.net Anime2001 Network Anime2001.com Coming soon... Hi Singloon,
I have great succes in listing in Yahoo directory and that is why I get my 300 page views from. I have had a good success from other engines and lucky to be in directhit for a few key words and I use GOTO for getting some more page views. But my visitors see a max of two pages per visit and they dont stick around. Do I have to change any thing specifically. I am in the middle of upgrading my page with lot more categories and not done updating all pages. One thing I have not concentrated is trading links. I will do that(hint:: Any one wants to trade a link drop me a line) But how do you get 100,000 or more page views? Need more pointers please... Thanks Lavee ------------------ Free Stuff Directory www.Lavee.com Are You In TheTopList.Com Webmasters - Add your site to thetoplist and get moretraffic |

Hi Lavee http://geekvillage.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
My site http://celestines.com gets 2300+ uniques and 23,000+ page views per day while my new site http://top50skinsites.com which barely one week old is getting 1300+ uniques ^_^ Some methods which work for me are joining banner exchanges, web rings, exchanging links with sites of your kind and joining top sites. It helps to join targetted banner exchanges. I joined a desktop enhancements banner exchange with my http://celestines.com site and it gets around 5%+ click through rate http://geekvillage.com/ubb/biggrin.gif. Having a mailing list helps too as visitors will be reminded to visit your site when you update it. I would recommend you to submit your pages to search engines first then worry about other methods as search engines take a while to index the sites http://geekvillage.com/ubb/frown.gif. Submitting your site to the open directory http://dmoz.org and http://snap.com helps too. The editors at Snap are very quick in reviewing and adding sites http://geekvillage.com/ubb/biggrin.gif (usually less than a day). Usually when your site gets indexed by one search engine it appears on many other engines since most of them (like http://mamma.com, http://dogpile.com, http://ask.com, etc) 'borrow' results from other engines. Hope that helps ^_^ ------------------ A skin/wallpaper/theme/saver creator? What kind of bandwidth do you guys consume? Mine seems to be going through the roof, but the p/v's aren't nearly that good. I think I need to look into a new stats reporting program, mine doesn't seem to be very logical.
What do you guys use to track p/v's, referrals, and uniques? -jim |

Wow, something is odd...
I typically use around 3.5 - 4.5 Gigs per month of bandwidth, but my pageviews linger at around 800 - 1,200 per day. I don't offer any downloads at all - it's mainly a news site. The thing that bugs me is that I receive about 200 posts per day on my forums, so that right there equals 1,000 p/v's, and that is only if they post one topic and leave, without reading anything else. That doesn't even take into account the rest of my site. Something is a little screwy me thinks... I use Http-Analyze, and I don't like it at all. Either there is something wrong with the way it parses the info, or there something wrong with my server logs. This is very strange, but thanks for info http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif. -jim |

We have had many site redesigns in this Forum which produced more page views. Edwin's site comes to mind where a new design increased page views per unique significantly. In his case this means a significant amount of additional revenue.
First of all, the site must have content. Real content to maximize results. Second, the design of the site should encourage exploration and have an additional goal of producing page views. In your case, pull/remove some of those Free stuff links from your home page and replace with something like "Hot Picks" The visitor goes to this page which has detailed summaries of these programs, why YOU think they are cool and then a link to "learn more" which leads to the final page or you just stop on the second page. Another way is just to break your one page into two pages with a continued link. Your pages are shorter, still have the same content but your page views just doubled. You need to be very very carefull that you don't "abuse" visitors and agrivate them. A delicate balance. If done properly the design is guaranteed to increase your page views per unique. Steve is right on target there. http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif
Another tip would be to make sure you have accurate logs and stats reporting! I just checked my stats, and on a given day, I am showing 1,100 uniques, but only 700 pageviews. How can they visit without viewing a page? If you're like me, you might be getting many more pageviews than your stats are showing! http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif -jim |

jim, i just finsihed installing http-analyse on 5 domains... and thought i'd mention this
do you have pages with .php, .shtml, .shtm, .htm, .txt extensions ? and did you setup http-analyse to pick up these extensions ? By default only .html extensions are picked up by http-analyse for pageviews... i had to add the other extensions in to get them to record all my pageviews... ------------------ Evangelion in the 21st century Eva2000.com Australian Star Wars Prequels ThePrequels.net Anime2001 Network Anime2001.com Coming soon... and for thedesktopthemes.com i don't care right now since i get as much bandwidth as i want from bla-bla http://geekvillage.com/ubb/biggrin.gif i was going to move it to my own server since the speed was slow, but then bla-bla must of upgraded the servers I think if you offer downloads you'd expect the pageviews to be lower and bandwidth up... of course people or web sites maybe leeching off your content - which will blow out your bandwidth costs... as for tracking.... eva2000.com is on simplenet now yahoo web site services and they provide log reporting and stuff... theprequels.net uses webtrends reports thedesktopthemes.com uses http://www.mrunix.net/webalizer and on my dedicated server i just installed http-analyse on each of my domain sites http://www.netstore.de/Supply/http-analyze there's also http://www.urchin.com/ and analog ------------------ Evangelion in the 21st century Eva2000.com Australian Star Wars Prequels ThePrequels.net Anime2001 Network Anime2001.com Coming soon... Hi Singloon,
Sure, sounds like a great idea http://geekvillage.com/ubb/biggrin.gif I don't have to worry about bandwidth as I have a friend hosting my sites at an unbelievable price http://geekvillage.com/ubb/biggrin.gif For trackers, I use the extreme tracker http://www.extreme-dm.com/tracking/ , TheCounter ( http://thecounter.com ) and Webaliaser among others. For some reason the new accounts at extreme seems to be getting slow and inaccurate stats http://geekvillage.com/ubb/frown.gif. I dumped thecounter during the period when they had problems with their stats. I just tried them recently and I like them so much that I signed up for 2 more counters for my other sites http://geekvillage.com/ubb/biggrin.gif [eeek!!!! typo error!!! >.<] ------------------ A skin/wallpaper/theme/saver creator? i am moving off extreme tracker now cause it has been unreliable for weeks .... first i lost accurate tracking of average unique visitors, then i lost total month unqiues and now i just lost this weeks total tally of unique visitors.... it won't update my stats....
another extreme tracker just reports my average per day as a figure higher than my highest day...... thecounter.com was okay but it still under reports stuff and the email reports are dead... they report 0 visitors for an entire week ! i use hitbox too - but that was dead a long time ago... i find webtrendslive.com is better now and plan to move to webtrendslive.com tracking ------------------ Evangelion in the 21st century Eva2000.com Australian Star Wars Prequels ThePrequels.net Anime2001 Network Anime2001.com Coming soon... Ok Im gonna show my age with this but I went to some of your sites today (Sing and Cele) and I would like to know who this Eva character is. I know my kids watch Sailor Moon, cause I walked by the television and think I saw it, is it one of those characters? Is it going to be the next pokemon craze that I am going to have to spend more money on? Just curious.

Neon Genesis Evangelion is an anime series created by Gainax Studios - it's not a kiddies show at all... it's more intellectual and my message board is a testament to that http://eva2000.com/board/
It first aired in Japan on Tokyo Channel 12 on October 4, 1995 and become one of the most popular series to come out of Japan... NGE aired as a 26 episode tv series followed later by 2 movies which brought about by fan response.... the videos are available from amazons.com or advfilms.com or madman.com.au in 13 x 2 episode videos... but the movies have been eagerly awaited by us Eva fans http://geekvillage.com/ubb/biggrin.gif I first watched it when it came out on Australia's SBS television last year and become an instant fan... This is an except Quote:
It's considered very old but here in Australia Neon Genesis Evangelion or NGE for short has a fairly big following.... ------------------ Evangelion in the 21st century Eva2000.com Australian Star Wars Prequels ThePrequels.net Anime2001 Network Anime2001.com Coming soon...
