Unhappy New sweepstake affiliate program

I hope the moderators of the board will allow me this one time post
to mention my new affiliate program from Prize-O-Matic.com. It's a
free to enter sweepstakes site. We're paying $0.20 per lead, up to
$0.25 per lead if you can generate more than 1000 sign ups per
month. Currently we're averaging a 27% conversion ratio.

It's administered by Commission Junction so you know your payout
will be safe. You can link to us any way you choose including blind links.

I'll be happy to answer any questions you might have.

You bet. Best of luck with your program http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif

Have you considered a special "deal" for geek/talk Members? http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif

If not this then perhaps please consider announcing here first with new stuff.

Best of luck again

Congrats on opening your first (I think...?) affiliate program. http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif

I wish you all the luck and I hope you will be really sucessful with it!

Your payout is a little low considering what others pay... But we gotta start somewhere! http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif

If your sign-up form is small, and the sweepstakes which you offer are nice... I am sure webmasters will consider using your program on their websites.

Once again, congrats & good luck! http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif

Thanks for the kind words guys. Yes this is my
first affiliate program. The payout is currently set
at a safe level while we determine if we can earn
the same amount from affiliate traffic as we did
from the traffic we fed it during testing.

Even at our "safe" rates, with our 27% conversion
it still works out to a not too shabby income. If you
can generate the 1000 leads in a month to get the 25
cent payout, that's still almost 7 cents per click from
links that really pull traffic like "Win a Playstation 2".

As for a bonus for the board. That's not out of the
question at all. I just have to learn the CJ interface
to be able to do it http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif

What about the other CJ Playstation 2 program offering $.40, will you match them? The other form seems to be a bit smaller than yours, but I might want to do a bit of a comparison.

Suave,
What a coincidence, I just started a PlayStation 2 contest a few days ago http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif What are the chances we'll be able to get one within a few weeks of their release you think? http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif
Perhaps we can swap tips, and work out some kind of deal or something. I'll email you privately about it.

Good luck with your program, it looks pretty good!

We plan on matching all similar offers once we get a handle
on things. Do know that you shouldn't just rate a sponsor
on payout rate. A site that pays $1 per lead, but converts
1 in 40 should be less attractive to you than one that
pays $0.25 per lead but converts 1 in 4. Do the math.

Thanks,

Well, I hear that a lot of guys have done just as you are doing with a sweepstakes or lotto at CJ and have done very well. I will you well.

You might offer an incentive for the ones that signup. That would make it easier for affiliates to promote it. The kind of incentive for signups that I am thinking about is that a signuup earns the same prize as his direct referral. Several other prize programs offer this.

I agree 100% Suave, right now I have a 1:4 conversion rate for that other guy, but if I can increase that with your progam, I would be more than happy to. http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif

suave, I don't know if you follow the other similar 'win a playstation' programs running in CJ but I thought you be interested to hear my experiences.

I joined the Joseph Davidson/online-sweeps.com one which was paying 35cents per sign-up. A couple of days later it dropped to 20cents.

Then I joined LinkClicks/VidCheat.Com which was paying 40cents. Today that also dropped to 20cents.

It seems like the bar is being set down to 20cents.

I haven't tried your program yet but I have just joined and added some links so I will be interested to see how it compares.

Regards
Simon

You heard it here first!

I'm glad to report we've boosted our payout by 20%. We're now paying
24 cents per lead, and 30 cents to those who command lots of traffic.

I'll personally work with anyone who asks to help them max their
conversion. We have one affiliate with a 60% conversion, which
works out to 18 cents a click. Send me an email if you want
suggestions.

A 60% conversion rate. Wow, that's amazing. I have been trying the program for a little while and have only managed to get 1 conversion from 18 click-throughs using the standard 'Win a Playstation' text link. Other similar programs give me a fairly steady conversion rate of about 1 in 6. I can't explain the difference.

Keep in mind that the 60% conversion is coming from our best
affiliate. Those results are achievable, but not the average.

1 in 18 is (no offense) way below average. I'd have to see how
you're linking to Prize-O-Matic to offer specific advice to your site.
If your results are from a short term, I suppose it could just be a
glitch. If however this is an average from at least hundreds of hits,
here's some ideas that might help.

1 - Our three top performers are sending traffic from email newsletters.
Newsletter traffic converts significantly better than standard website
traffic.

2 - Another good step would be changing from banners to text links
since again text links far out perform banners in both conversion
and click throughs.

3 - The highest conversions and click throughs come not only from
just a newsletter ad, but someone sending a dedicated email to
their members. If you describe Prize-O-Matic favorably in a site
review as the content of the newsletter, you'll get very good numbers.

4 - If that's not possible, look at how you're linking to us. If you're putting
us in a page with a dozen other similar contests, you conversion will
naturally go down as the surfer clicks down the list. The deeper you
place us in your site, the worse the conversion. If you pop a console in
front of our page, your conversion will go down. If you open us in a new
window, again there goes your conversion.

Like when you're trying to sell anything on the Net, it's all about the
pre-sell. You can just place a link on a page and hope for the
best OR you can try to convince your surfer he wants or needs the
site you're pushing.
