Question Opinion/Suggestions

Hello Everyone,

I would like to ask all of you for your opinions and suggestions if you would be so kind http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif

We have just added a new feature that allows affiliates to select what banners they want to show on their website. The only downfall of the banner selection is that if an ad expires while you aren't monitoring it then default ads will show up on your site.

So I was wondering if I should send out emails each time an ad expires and when we get new advertisers? That could be annoying but it would also be better than having default banners on your website(s).

Any suggestions or opinions on this?

Chet,
Why not make it an optional deal? They can opt-in (or opt-out) for recieving updates about banner status. If they don't signup for the email (or turn it off) and a default banner is shown because a campaign expires, that's their fault but if they want you to remind them, then they can do so.

Sounds like the best way to do things to me. You also might want to make sure to spread your campaigns out so they end on similar days... obviously with users selecting their own banners, things can't be perfect but you dont want to be sending an email every 25 minutes.

Valueclick already crying for leting people pick banners.
Some campaigns never ends and people do some crazy stuff with it

1. Some companies redirect to related paying offer. if the offer on your site expires.

2. One company sends you an alert if you get a click on an expired offer.

2b. If you serve the banners from your site, you wouldn't even need to wait for a click, send the alert when they get the first expired impression.

3. Opt-in / Opt-out is good.

The more choice you give the webmaster, the better you will do, and the harder it becomes for anyone to find fault with your company. If they are essentially calling their own shots, through you, then success and failure rests on them. Most people really like that.

If you position your company as one that connects webmasters with advertisers that they couldn't reach otherwise, that's a good start. Making the whole system transparent and as configurable as possible is the only thing that engenders real loyalty these days.
