I like PHP more, as this language is easy to implement. and more important, as PHP is an open source language, many of its codes are available free of cost over internet

if its a large database the thing you need to take care is the database, the language isn't that important... the database is.

I would say both languages have their own Advantages and it always depend on the type of application which needs to be devloped. Choice will be ultimately with the developer
PHP is interpreted language while ASP.NET is a compiled language. Compilation gives advantage to ASP.NET on PHP in terms of performance. ASP.NET has backbone of .NET FRAMEWORK CLASS LIBRARIES which gives it power to develop any kind of website (Simple CMS, Large Portals, Intranet Websites etc...). ASP.NET is far more secure than PHP as it has hundreds of classes related to Security (Hashing Algorithms, Authentication Classes, Encryption Methodologies etc..) PHP on the other hand is open source gives advance user power to change language as per their requirement. Very generous in nature which allows programmer to develop web applications much faster. PHP has large community which given use power to re use lot of code and there many Ecommerce platforms developed on Top of PHP (Wordpress, Magento, Drupal, XCart, Joomla). There are many PHP frameworks (Code Ignitor, Symphony, Zend Framework, Cake PHP) developed using PHP which allows developer to increase their development speed with efficient and reliable code |

Both are good...
From small to medium web project, PHP is probably more convenient and easier. But for larger projects, .Net is better.... |

It depends on your and application's need. Php is easy to implement in comparison of .net and it is an open source platform. On the other hand .net is not an open source platform you have to pay for it's license.

As per best programming language concern i would like to say that PHP is better than .Net. I also used PHP for developing a website that provide great features which are very useful for so many peoples. PHP is very easy to learn and very easy to use.
