Many of us use the free edition of AVG anti-virus and are very pleased with it.
AVG now offers free anti-spyware that has some fairly good features. I've been using it a couple of weeks and I'm pleased with it, so I decided to mention it here in case someone might be interested and isn't aware of this free product from AVG. They also have a paid version that has more features. The setup contains both the free and paid versions. After you install it, the full paid version will be actived but it is free for 30 days. After 30 days the extra features of the paid version will be deactive and the free version features will only be available for use. But those features aren't all that bad. If you like, you can obtain the features of the paid version whenever you want. You can get more details about this free anti-spyware from AVG, as well as download it at this link http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/...i-spyware-free |

I have the professional AVG Anti-Virus software on my PC and have recently purchased the Anti-spyware, it is very effective, i tnot only scans your harddrive but your active memory processes and registry. I was able to isolate risks in quarantine, and remove them with just a few clicks. It activly monitors new files being downloaded and reports risks as soon as they enter your PC.
I highly recommend both the Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware products of Grisoft AVG. |

I just saw this thread and I had to answer it. I really like using AVG. I have the registered version with firewall. I will never go back to another anti-virus prog. again. It meets all my needs. I set it up on my server and It protect my whole network. I like how it block spyware and popups so effectively. AVG is Awsome!

I just installed the free version and so far I love it. AVG doesn't take over my computer like the other programs did, causing other programs not to work properly (like Skype). If I continue to get these results I will definitely upgrade when the trial is over.

Yeah it's a great program
It isn't a resource hog, which is why I chose it over Norton (crippled my PC), Macafee was rendered useless s few years back because of a website virus way back then. I needed some quick fix and AVG did the job and I have been supporting it since

I have mcafee (which I get free from aol)
Does anyone thinks it makes sense to try AVG and see if it finds anything mcafee did not. I only ask because I used a copy of malwarebytes today that I had, and it supposedly found 6 trojans (which it deleted). I hate viruses more than spam

Trogans are the ones that peeve me off. Yes, because the database and programming of anti-malware programs are different; so each is likely to miss some and find some others miss.

I was afraid of that.
I was hoping there was a software that handles every threat. I knew that would be too easy.

Not only that but many of the programs are virus like in that they are difficult or impossible to remove. And of course, some programs are anti-social and won't even install unless you have nothing else installed. Others just won't work well together.
Malware Bytes and Avast appear to be playing nice for now. However, I only have Avast doing the on access protection and not just weekly scans. |

I still like to use noton's product to protect my computer. Both it's internet security and anti-virus are reliable although it's a little expensive.
