Thumbs down webspomsors tax forms?

Got another email from webspomsors asking me to fill in a tax form, now Im not a US citizen and I dont live in the US and I dont do business there so under international treaties on this matter I am not required to fill in these forms, I have recieved advice on this matter from an international firm of accountants. Yet websponsors insist it must be filled or refuse to make payment. Now (1)How come no other advertising company on the net that I am aware of reqiure this, only websponsors? If this form was required to be filled in then all advertising companies would be asking the same.(2)How come you are not informed of this when you sign up, not after you have you have been running their banners? (3)Im not about to fill in this form, so looks like Ill lose my money.

Cool

1. Just my opinion: I would suggest you just fill it out. The form is simply a declaration of what you said in your post, and only takes a couple of minutes to fill out.

2. WS are not the only company that requires these forms - many others do too including Teknosurf's Adwave

These forms are not that big of a deal. Alot of companies require them. For tax purposes they all need to be able to verify where their profits are being spent for business reasons. If that makes sense at all http://www.very-cool-stuff.com/ubb/smile.gif

Thanks, but the point Im trying to make is that it is NOT a matter of law that it is reqiured, otherwise Burst, Eads, value click, one and only, etc would ask the same, but they dont. So my question is what right do they have to withhold payment?

Cool

If you live outside of the united state you have to fill out the W-8 and not the W-9.

Why don't you move to CyberBounty or Direct Lead they don't require this and have most of the same offers.

Unhappy

Hello everyone, ok I have a problem concerning these forms. I live in Canada but I am an American Citizen so I don't know which form to enter because the one for Non-US residents is adressed to Non-citizens also. I have e-mailed websponsors twice with no response...

RE: but the point Im trying to make is that it is NOT a matter of law that it is reqiured,

The quotes I have listed on these pages are exactly from US tax laws.

Regarding some of the other questions you have...

I can't speak on behalf of the folks who ignore them, but they are in fact US tax laws.
