Can anybody recommend a reputable domain name escrow company that charges around $300 or 5% per sale and can handle everything online or over the phone (i.e. no sending papers)? I need something like that because the transaction involves a person from other side of the globe and it would take ages with http://register.com because they want signed and notarized forms to be mailed to them.
Warnings and horror stories are also welcomed. http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif
Also is there an easier or cheaper way to securely handle domain name sale withought escrow?

You should use an escrow. I have used http://www.greatdomains.com I was the buyer and the entire deal was handled properly and they answered my emails and phone calls in an appropriate manner.

http://www.greatdomains.com has a $500 minimum fee which is a tad expensive. I actually went with http://www.escrow.com . _Very_ reasonable fees especially if you pay with check or wire transfer. Also they don't accept credit card payments of over $5k and they don't handle the actual domain name transfer -- you have to do it yourself. Otherwise it looks like a winner.
