I ran into this ad while searching on Google:

Sponsored Links
Free Kazaa Gold
Faster Downloads, No Advertising
No Subscription Fees, 100% Private
www.kazaagold.com

According to kazaagold's website:

No Spyware
No Pop-Ups
No Banner Ads
CD Ripping Software (Premium Edition)
Virus Removal Tools (Premium Edition)
How To Technical Support (Premium Edtion)

Anyone know anything about this variant form of Kazaa?

I am not about to enter my email address to find out. They should have more info on the site. It looks like it might be a paid varient, but I won't give my email to any sign up places anymore.

Aside:
The price of a domain with an email server is much lower these days. I use a different address everywhere I sign up.... along the lines of geekvillage_com@the-domain-i-bought.com.

Everything comes to my main inbox by default, but if a website starts spamming the address I gave them, I set a fowarder on that alias to my trashcan, or, back to the public email address of that website, if I can find one.

It's just a repackaged version of the free Kazaa, but this one costs money. Kazaalite is the best free version.

Someone's just trying to make a buck.
