Check out this great sports gambling news portal for sale.

Sports Gaming News
http://www.SportsGamingNews.com

It has been online for about a year and is listed on google and most search engines.

This web site is professionally designed and is effortless to maintain. The functionality of the site is comprehensive, including news posting, reviews and forums.

News is automatically pulled from sources on an hourly basis. I have not attempted to derive any revenue from this site, but the potential is great. It would make a great complementary site to a sportsbook operation or you could just attach your sportsbook affiliate links to the site.

This sale includes name and domain rights, web site, all source code and images and three months of free hosting to allow transfer to your own isp.

Now here's the critical info on the site:
My name is Shanon F.
The site is located at http://www.SportsGamingNews.com
I have owned the site for about a year, but the site was running several years before I purchased it.
Traffic statistics are unknown. I just revamped the site and everything from the old site was wiped.
Asking price is $900 or best offer.
Please contact me at info@irvinehosting.net if interested.

Thanks everybody, have fun!
Shanon.

Whats your revenue?

Just the facts:

I had originally bought xbox.net from the same individual, only for the person to claim that 'the domain was stolen'. This was AFTER I had even paid the Escrow fees.

The domain was soon on eBay ... from a buyout of $10,000 to the last of which I saw was $8,000

Even the favicon are same :/

My two cents: proceed with caution.

If anyone interested in this web site is concerned about the above comment, then please send me an email and I'll give you my side of the story. Otherwise, I don't think it's necessary or proper to make a nasty public comment about a user of this forum.

In terms of revenue I stated above that I have not derived revenue from this site. However, previously there were affiliate links on this site which provided a certain amount of income but I can't give you an exact figure because there are multiple such sites and no way to attribute the revenue based on site.

It will really be up to you to market and implement revenue generators for this site. I personally recommend against banner ads and such things and favor related affiliate links. Or better yet if you already have similarly themed sites then you should know how to profit well from it.

I hope this has addressed the revenue question. I will be happy to entertain any other questions at any time.

Best of luck with your sale.

I'm not taking sides but any geek can shelter/protect the escrow fee liability by requiring the seller to open the escrow and negotiate the cost of the escrow in the sales price.

I just did this on a deal for a client and the seller said no so that broke the deal as we walked. No offence intended to anyone. Natch you need to agree on the price, terms, and escrow company. Exstream caution and exstensive "due dilligence" is not an option when buying or selling. It's a requirement :)

Returning to this deal:

<you said: It has been online for about a year and is listed on google and most search engines.>

Was this article "automatically pulled" or was this a copy paste and or fair use manual exstraction?

Thanks in advance for your detailed responses and best of luck.

1. You have no listings/back links in Google and a total of 20 accros the majors? - ?
It is listed on google. You just have to type the name in manually. For some reason it doesn't show on sites like marketleap. The new web design hasn't been indexed in yet but probably will be this month. The old web site was quite sorry.

2. Alexa has no data?
I don't know much about alexa so I can't really comment on this. This is not a hugely busy site though. The direction this is headed at least as long as I own it is not to make it a big sports portal but to make a small sportsbook portal, ie "sports gambling" portal. Most of these types of sites have low hit count but high, profitable conversion rates. The ones with high hit count are either getting bad traffic or are really profitable.

4. Which script and or what technology is required and is this included in the sales price? Can you please post some urls where this automnatically happens as I may have missed it?

It is a perl script I have written. There are few kinks I'm working out. It will be back up and operational in a few days. I actually thought I'd get a few days grace period before people started quizzing me on such things after posting this ad :) Usually it takes at least a month or so before any really interested parties get around to responding to these ads so I had planned for this sale to take place in about 2-3 months. All the kinks will be worked out of the site by then and I will know what potential buyers are expecting. If it sells sooner I will just have to be more aggressive in making sure everything in the site is working and in place. So anyway watch for these changes in coming days. Also, the developer of the site is available for any further customizations if desired.

5. On the following page:

http://www.sportsgamingnews.com/mod...order=0&thold=0

Was this article "automatically pulled" or was this a copy paste and or fair use manual exstraction?
This was a manual extraction. Please watch for the "auto-pulls" in the comings days (you will recognize them).

Thanks in advance for your detailed responses and best of luck.
Thank you and take care.

Your traffic ranking rank is also zero. I think you need to elaborate on your traffic with a close estimate of your pageviews.

Shanon,

Thanks for your response. Respectfully, the long and short of this deal as of your post of 05-07-2003 10:11 PM is that you are selling a domain name + the current site design + free hosting for a few months. No more and no less.

In this respect your deal is nearly identical to our typical domain name sale. Not a "developed site" deal with traffic and other stuff that significantly enhances the sale price.

This outlook does not necessarily mean the site is worth more or less. Thats up to you and the buyer to arrive at a suitable price.

I can't and won't speak to what happens on other Forums and or eBay but I can tell you with absolute certainty that on this Forum we have a very very large number of very very smart geeks. Very experienced and knowledge in all kinds of deals.

As per the Sticky Post rules at the top of this Forum:

"Tips:

Thousands of very knowledgeable Publishers/Merchants will see your post every day. The Website For Sale - Purchase - Barter - Trade Forum has produced numerous sales and trades. With these facts in mind please:

1. Avoid wild claims. Our Community won't be impressed and you are unlikely to "fool" anyone.
2. Subdued and straightforward short copy works best.
3. Place your email/contact address in your original post. Visitors can't view your profile.
4. Insure that your member profile is properly completed via the Member Control Panel
5. All posts must contain ALL the details necessary to make an informed decision in your initial post. Posts which use a site link for details are never acceptable. Posts which strive to extract traffic from this BB are never acceptable.
6. Please exercise caution and good judgment before entering into any transaction. Please perform "due dillegence" and use an escrow service. These transactions may have legal and tax implications. We suggest you consult with your attorney and or accountant before you engage in this type of transaction.
7. Use the Print Link at the top or bottom of your Topic to insure you have a permanent record of your offer. " ---end

Natch, many deals require questions and devloped site deals usually have pluses and minuses which is fine. The deals that close in this Forum are normally posted in a very straightforward manner which always enhances the probability of a sale/purchase.
Good luck with your deal.

Yes, that is fair to say.

But I would suggest for people that are interested in the site, but feel it is not quite meeting their expections, to check back to the site from time to time because it will only get better. (for instance, check out the cool new graphics just added!)
http://www.SportsGamingNews.com

Like I said, I expect it will take a full three months to sell, but I am already getting emails so who knows.

thanks and take care,
Shanon.

According to whois, the domain was created in 2003. [http://www.whois.sc/sportsgamingnews.com]

Since there is archive.org information on the domain, can you explain how this happened?

Furthermore, the page for May 2002 states that it is owned by Palm Beach Software, Inc. This company is registered in Florida [ http://www.whois.sc/pb-software-design.com ] while you are located in California. Moreoever, they actually link to your domain on their front page - http://www.pb-software-design.com/

How does that work?

And as for google ... I Found no mention of sportsgamingnews.com for 'sportsgamingnews'. In fact, such a search only leads back to Palm Beach Software, Inc. The site also has an explicit PR0 .. due to its timeline of being 'online', this can only mean penalty.

In my judgement, it seems like this was an expired domain picked up less than a year ago and now being panhandled.

I'm glad there is such strong interest in this site.

According to whois, the domain was created in 2003.

I have owned the web site for about a year or so. I have recently in the past few months been forced to transfer many of my domains from one registrar to another because my account was hacked and I feared losing more of my domains. This may have been one of them, I can't really recall.

Before that the Florida operation you were refering to ran the site.

And as for google ... I Found no mention of sportsgamingnews.com for 'sportsgamingnews'. In fact, such a search only leads back to Palm Beach Software, Inc. The site also has an explicit PR0 .. due to its timeline of being 'online', this can only mean penalty.

If you go to google, it will show the name of the old site which had a different name in the title. The new site will be indexing this month so if this is an issue for you, just wait until google updates the pages and you'll see the new site shown there.

I have four interested buyers so far so it might not be available in a month.

three link backs: http://www2.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&safe=off&q=link%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.sportsgamingnews.com&btnG=Google+Search

this is the update cycle too.

Domain registrar transfers do NOT change date of 'creation'

http://www.sportsgamingnews.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Stats&file=index ... < 300 pageviews in 2 years

Yeah, and here is the site indexed in google:
http://www2.google.com/search?num=100&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&safe=off&q=www.sportsgamingnews.com

http://www.sportsgamingnews.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Stats&file=index ... < 300 pageviews in 2 years
Nope, three days or so ago, the final version of the web design went live. So that is what those pageviews indicate. Everything on the site was reset at that time. All the old cr*p was cleared out. I am sorry that the entire history of the site's existence was not saved for your review, but really the site is what the site is right now. New functionality and improvements will keep being implemented until the site sells.

Follow the stats for the next few weeks or months and decide for yourself:
