I am curious. A good number of us geeks are fairly well off (or soon to be) so I was wondering what kinds of cars y'all have (or are planning on getting). The first thing anyone does when they get rich is buy a nice car http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif Me, I'm buying a mitsubishi eclipse as soon as i get my july checks. Probably around Christmas i'll get a 2000 spyder if i feel like it.

So what do you guys own? What is YOUR dream car?

Oh, also: do any of you know any good places to get cars on the net, ie ebay, autotrader, etc? Or is it not a good idea to get cars on the web (i'm probably going to get mine locally, but if i can get a good deal....)

Well i used to have a '98 honda accord. I later sold it to get a '99 mitsubishi eclipse. I totalled that car after about 6 months. that car could haul *** . Now i have a 2000 mustang. The mustang is loaded with a phat system. You can hear my bass a mile down the street. The speaker alone takes up my whole trunk. http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif I will probably get the 2001 eclipse. My dream car is of course a lamorghini. Hey i can dream, can't I?

I personally believe that any gu who drives a eclpise is gay or has very strong gay qualities. I also happen to know that many other girls out there feel the same way. So my message to you guys out there stay away from the eclipses, go with a more manly car. Leave the eclpises to girls. :-)

2WlbG:
and what's so gay about driving an eclipse ??? you think it's gay to drive a ferrari ... well , I don't think so , but still they are both sport cars ... maybe just one more expensive than another http://geekvillage.com/ubb/wink.gif

And in your opinion , what car is more for man ? ...

kris why do you prefer mustang over elcipse... I was looking into mustang but you have open my eyes. please enlighten. Which had better steering, if you remember.. The more details the better..

Thanks

wlbg,
uhh.. i resent that.. im not gay and i did drive an ellipse.. so what? i dont know what the ellipses look like in your area but mine looked good. its a shame i crashed it..
whatever..

gotrice,
well i picked the mustang because it was kinda cheap. i got the 2000 ford stv mustang cobra. what can i say? i love it. V8.. don't expect to stay long when the red lights turn green. http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif the only thing i don't like is that the trunk is kinda small. I dont think there's much difference between the mustang and the ecllipse. Both are fast. steering i believe is the more or less the same. Overall, i would pick the mustang if i have to pick again.

I'm with wblg...when I see an eclipse, I expect to see someone with a dress climbing out.

You want a real car....don't get a stang....they are extremely uncomfortable (at least for me...6 foot 5) http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif

Get an infinity QX4.....

If you want a real mans car, why not go with something from Hennessy Motorsports? Maybe a Dodge Viper Venom 800 Twin Turbo with over 700hp and over 700lb of torque?
http://www.hennesseymotorsports.com/cgi/store/commerce.cgi?page=v18.html&cart_id=3555443_10008

Or perhaps the Durango with a Viper V10 engine?

Those are some nice cars http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif

matter of fact, I just saw that Eclipse commerical for the first time tonight....annnd....

I'm taking back my comment about the dresses. The new eclipses don't look all that bad, not as good as the QX4 mind you, but not too shabby.

haven't you people seen that commercial for the eclipses? the one in the parking complex where the chick goes up to the guy "hey, (his name) you looking good, looks like you're doing well." (something like that)... and its because of the car, then this other guy comes up, hops in the car... and the guy is all bummed, cuz he knows that all the girl wanted him for was because she thought he owned that bad *** , sexy eclipse...

the 2001 mitsubishi eclipse spyder:
Now this is a MANLY car. I actually dont get the difference between chic cars and stud cars. Now there's a difference between old lady cars and "teenager" cars, but i don't see how cars can be feminine or masculine.

I think the ad for the 2001 spyder goes "The wind against your face... The glare of the sun.... the look on their faces..."

Thats what i'm talking about

On a side note, i was driving back up to college today at about 6am. My friend has a souped up covette and i was driving my mustang. We were racing for a while and i hit 120 mph. i think he was hitting only 110... haha, buy the mustang. http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif If you are a cop and are reading this, when I say 120 i mean 65...

wahaha, if you're going for speed, the v12 engine in the lamborghini leaves everything else in the dust

how fast can you get your eclipse going (before the accident)??

so , as we started to talk about a speed ... one time I got to 105 mph in my '94 Chevy Cavalier ... so ... is it almsot like Corvette ? ... and I absolutely sure , that my chvy could have go faster ... so , I absolutely sure , speed like this doesn't matter in cars , because most cars could hit it http://geekvillage.com/ubb/wink.gif ... if u said , that U got to 200-250 mph ;-) then we'll see http://geekvillage.com/ubb/wink.gif

Yes yes, speed is nice and all but really now, even my mid-sized 99' dodge dakota could kick the living day lights out of any mustang.

what good is speed if you'e got a 4 ton obstacle infront of you http://geekvillage.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif http://geekvillage.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Well in New Zealand we don't have many new sports cars out etc. Are there any Nissan 300ZX's that look any good? - the latest one I have seen here in NZ is a 92 :-(
