View Full Version : Looking to buy some ads in newsletters

I'm thinking about buying some ad space in newsletters. I checked out Focalex and the cheapest they have is $0.12 per address. Can anyone here offer a better rate? Perhaps an arrangement between cash and me giving you ad space? I'm only looking to spend $100 or so and want to know what's the best exposure one of you can offer me for that?

I'm giving away free e-mail addresses. So if your list is highly targetted perhaps I can purchase a domain to offer free e-mail at and set that up then run the ad.
Example.. you have a britney spears e-mail list of all britney spears fans (just an example!). You could offer me a killer rate for reaching those people. So I go buy a domain to offer free e-mail that relates to britney spears and then pay you. In theory this will result in great signups for me. Thus I'm a happy advertiser and want to give you more money.

I know there are a lot of people on this board with lists of all sizes and about all topics. Pitch your list to me and maybe I'll decide to send you the money. (pay with PayPal would be easiest for me)

I'd be willing to go as low as $0.02 cents per address. My list is for my funpage site, fyi. There are 50 thousand subscribers on my list, so that'd work out to about $1000 US. I don't know if that's out of your price range, but maybe we can work out a trade.

Thanks for the great offer M3rcury but that's out of my price range right now. I found a web devoloper list for $0.02 per subscriber and it has 700 subscribers, which is much more in my price range. In a few months I may be looking for lists of your size.

Hello "List Mavens" http://geekvillage.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Respectfully, what is your "bounce percent" and "duplictae percent"?

Seems to me not all lists are created equal. I'm speaking from first hand experience and think this data would help all of us.

wow, that's some list and price Aaron.

My ad budget isn't that big. But it should be in a few months. $0.0037 per address. That's sure a low low low price.

Aaron:
What site do you have so many subs on? That is a very impressive list, if i may say so. How long did it take you to generate so many subscribers and what were your methods?

Well, lemme tell ya, it took me a long time. http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif I've been building my lists for about 3 years. Steve, my bounce percentage is very low since I run using Lyris, so it automatically removes bounces and trims the list. As for dupes, it's probably approximately 160 - 170,000 unique subscribers.

My lists aren't really "on" sites, but the largest list is on Coolsig (http://coolsig.com/)

Aaron...what are the interests and demographics of your list members? Do you send newsletters or will you accept single opt in ads. Just curious...I broker lists and I'm always looking for fresh lists.

Hi Guava - Have you tried http://www.listuniverse.com? There's a nice little lady there called Miki. They handle about 50,000 newsletters and have pricing as low as 2c They say they can target any market. I'm not sure what their minumum order is.

My turn http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif

Two fresh lists sold together as a bundle. Sorry...no trade or barter. US funds only, deposited and cleared before mailing.

2797 subscribers at:
http://www.very-cool-stuff.com This is my ScreenSaver/Wallaper list. The orange form on the left. News about latest additions. Mailings are every 3 or 4 weeks http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif Bounce rate about 5% No dupes or very very few.

1687 subscribers at:
http://www.coolgroup.com This is the Member list only. Those who join the Community and NOT senders or recievers of Postcards. Bounce rate about the same as above. No dupes or very very few. News about latest additions to Postcards and new passwords to unlock adverts in the ScreenSavers. Mailings are every 2 or 3 weeks.

Assuming we have a "non compete" and your product is up to snuff which I'm sure it is, you also get my review and opinion along with an exclusive for a single mailing.

Cost: 6 cents each for a total of $269.00 for a single mailing to both lists.

I guess I'll add mine, too http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif

I run 8 lists, on different topics, all are optin. The bounce rate is fairly low, less than 2% worst case. The duplicate rate from list to list is somewhat high, I have no exact numbers, but I do offer discounts if you want to advertise on more than one to make up for this. Here they are:

1) Daily Cartoon -
9399 Subscribers
Sent daily

2) Daily Joke -
12012 Subscribers
Sent Daily

3) Daily Contest -
6966 Subscribers
Sent Daily

4) Daily FunPage/Greeting -
13911 Subscribers
Sent Daily

5) Daily Offer -
7105 Subscribers
Sent Daily

6) DumbMedia (Stupid pictures and stuff)-
14583 Subscribers
Sent Daily

7) Daily Horoscope -
8966 Subscribers
Sent Daily

8) WeirdNews -
8729 Subscribers
Sent Weekly

I am open to trades, especially at times when ad selection is low. I do ask that at least half of the money is paid upfront, the rest immediately following the mailing. I prefer PayPal or credit cards, but I am flexible with this as well.

Rates:

Ads - .005 to .02 per subscriber
Rented mailings - ie, I send out a mailing on your behalf - MUST be in line with the content of the ezines: .05 to .10 per subscriber.

My rates are negotiable, I am pretty flexible. Also, those counts are accurate as of the time of this post, but they are constantly changing (each list increases at least 20 or so per day).

email me at: spencer@uresk.net for more info.

Thanks

All of our regular newsletters are sent out daily, with content that we develop in-house, or that is in public-domain. Ads in these are top-of-list, one ad per list, so they look great.

Herb, We do have 11,000 people who are members of our "Freebies" list, which is the one that might interest you. We do accept single opt-in ads (if I'm understanding your meaning correctly) provided that the advertiser and product is reputable.

I would email you, but I can't get your email address (it's not in your profile) - so please email me! http://geekvillage.com/ubb/smile.gif
